From the Editor's desk

This issue is special in several ways, the chief among them being released under the august banner of Medknow - Wolter and Kluwer. This prestige was awarded to Indian Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry after 4 years of deliberation and after phenomenonal efforts by the Deputy Registrar Dr. S. Bhuminathan of Bharath University to bring our journal under the aegis of such a renowned publisher.

The other distinct difference from earlier issues is that only online issues will be published from now onward. This is in view of the eco-friendly measures of Bharath University to spare enormous amount of paper. My personal view is that this change is very much necessary since most viewers will have immediate access, and trendsetting international journals have already adopted this course. This decision to do away with paper printing will surely be welcomed by the younger generation who are more computer savvy and net friendly. Blessed be youth, for its energy and determination. "Where others flinch, rash youth will dare!" However, to play the devil's advocate to this decision to go online, the substance is replaced by shadow. But this transition is the need of the hour and cannot be postponed any longer.

The mainstay of our journal passing through several metamorphosis phases is due to the unflinching loyalty and patronage of our reader base and the contributing authors and I am grateful to both and request to continue the same for future issues also. I have one more ambitious demand to make on the authors, and that is to send us more number of original research articles. The reason why I make such a request is the impact factor of our journal keeps going up and publishing original research articles will help both in elevating the impact factor and indexation.

I wish to take the quality of the articles published in this and future issues to a higher level, a daunting task no doubt, but badly needed to acquire PubMed and Scopus indexation. I rely on the readers and authors to achieve this tall target. Hence I conclude this short editorial with the saying "Man can have nothing, but what he strives for." Readers are welcome to share their views at [email protected].

Best wishes,
