I will receive phone calls from my friends, my colleagues, my batch mates, and clinicians all over India regarding how to publish their study or case in a indexed journal, which prompted me to write this editorial in a multispecialty dental journal from a deemed university in Tamil Nadu. In our country, dental professionals working in academic institutions, hospitals, and clinics may come across clinical cases and research in various dental disciplines and find difficulty in transforming their research into manuscript, which add new insight to the dental literature. The aspiring authors may face various common dilemmas in scientific writing such as why and where to publish?; editing and compilation of article; usage of appropriate biostatistics for the research; and scientific misconduct such as plagiarism, duplicate publication, authorship dispute, and prey to predatory journals and hijacking journals.[1],[2],[3] It is interesting to see that even undergraduate research is appreciated by prominent medical journals such as Indian Journal of Medical Research, Indian Journal of Medical Ethics, and National Medical Journal of India, and the above trend has to be adopted by the societies and associations of individual master dental specialties to elicit the research acumen of dental undergraduates studying in various dental schools in India. The above goal for ethical publishing may be fulfilled by conducting workshops on scientific writing by health universities for undergraduate students and postgraduate students, individual societies, and associations of master dental specialties for their members and Indian Dental Association for their members.
